Moffitt Cancer Center at SouthShore will bring cancer care closer to patients in south Hillsborough County when it opens its doors in January. Most cancer specialties will be available at the new location.

According to Jazmin Calzada, director of nursing and ambulatory clinic operations at Moffitt Cancer Center, approximately 140 full time team members will staff the SouthShore location beginning Jan. 27, 2025. Patients can start scheduling appointments there this fall.

“We will open up our scheduling books three months before our opening date, and patients will be able to schedule into all modalities,” Calzada said.

That means clinic space will be available for most cancer specialties. The 75,000-square-foot facility at 2709 E. College Ave. in Ruskin will be home to 18 exam rooms and 10 bays strictly for blood draws.

“Our purpose is to reach more patients and to ease the burden some patients may have of getting to our Magnolia campus,” Calzada said. “We will have both familiar faces and new faces working at Moffitt at SouthShore when we welcome our first patients in January.”

Moffitt at SouthShore is an ambulatory campus, meaning it’s a satellite facility that offers nearly all the cancer care as Moffitt’s larger campuses in Tampa.

Patients can conveniently schedule all their radiology imaging, labs, chemotherapy infusions, radiation therapy and clinic appointments with cancer experts at SouthShore. However, surgical procedures and inpatient stays will require travel to Moffitt’s Magnolia or McKinley campuses.

Moffitt at SouthShore is about 30 miles south of the Moffitt Magnolia Campus and a mile from Interstate 75 to provide more convenient access to cancer care to more patients.

The interior of Moffitt at SouthShore should be fully enclosed by this summer.
