In January of 2025, Moffitt Cancer Center will officially open its SouthShore campus on 9 acres in Ruskin, Florida. This satellite campus, currently under construction and officially called Moffitt at SouthShore, will bring the cancer center’s oncology specialists to South Hillsborough County for the first time.

The new building comes after Moffitt conducted extensive research on patient volumes and found that a large number come from south of the cancer center’s Magnolia campus at the University of South Florida.  The new Moffitt at SouthShore campus will be much more convenient for patients from Brandon and Sun City Center and is expected to serve nearly 9,000 patients within its first five years of operation.

“Our Magnolia campus is not the only place where you can receive elite-level care,” said Jazmin Calzada, director of Nursing and Ambulatory Clinic Operations. “Moffitt at SouthShore will offer many of the same services as the Magnolia and McKinley campuses and will focus on a robust radiology program.”

That program will allow imaging to be available closer to more patients and the clinic space will treat all cancer diagnoses. Along with imaging, SouthShore will also offer infusions and blood draw to patients.

“SouthShore is happening quickly and those who live in Ruskin can see the progress we’re making on the building and the campus already,” Calzada said. “There is a lot of excitement around this new campus and it is another example of Moffitt bringing its oncology expertise directly to the communities it serves.”

Once SouthShore opens its doors, patients and families will see multispecialty medical oncologists and surgical oncologists. As patient volumes grow, more Moffitt team members will be recruited to accommodate patients.

SouthShore will also offer access to clinical trials, which can often lead to the best outcomes for cancer patients.
