The culture and passion of team members motivated Joyce Oh to become part of the Moffitt Cancer Center family in September. As Moffitt’s new vice president and chief information officer, Oh brings more than 25 years of technology experience to the cancer center. She also brings a passion for supporting Moffitt’s mission from the digital front.

“Every single person I met through the interview process shared the same passion for the mission and a spirit of collaboration and care, which differentiated the Moffitt culture from anywhere else I’ve worked,” Oh said.
The Future Is Digital
In her role, Oh oversees information technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, IT applications and business office functions for Moffitt’s Center for Digital Health. As chief information officer, she plays a key leadership role on the Digital Health team. To support Moffitt’s newly revamped strategic plan, Oh collaborates with Chief Data Officer Dr. Dana Rollison, Vice President of Digital Santosh Mohan and others to develop and apply digital tools that will advance oncology care, research and education.
Oh has several goals for the organization. Her top priority is ensuring the delivery of the necessary technology required to open Moffitt McKinley Hospital in July. Oh also emphasizes the critical need to align IT’s efforts with organizational and business goals. She says it’s important for her to understand the pain points and opportunities for end-user efficiency gains by addressing issues such as tedious workstation logon times and manual onboarding processes. She is also focused on IT contributing to and growing the radical interdependence model established for the Center for Digital Health.
Connection to Cancer
Oh lost her mother and grandfather to cancer. These losses have left her with a deep desire to contribute to both treating and curing cancer. She wholeheartedly believes that Moffitt can and will do that someday.

Quality Time
Running, swimming, gardening and listening to music are a few of the activities Oh enjoys in her free time. Her strongest passion — and what she enjoys doing the most — is spending quality time with her family. She and her husband of 21 years, Sam, have two boys, Noah and Luke.
From Michigan to the Sunshine State
Trading in the cold Michigan winters for the warm Florida weather, Oh is looking forward to being a local tourist of the Tampa Bay area and exploring Florida with her family every weekend.
Hidden Talents
When it comes to talent, Oh’s gifts go beyond leading IT teams. She loves music. While she enjoys playing guitar and piano and can even carry a tune on the flute, Oh says her true passion is playing the drums.
